7. Seven Come Eleven

This song was made famous in Benny Goodman’s band as a feature for electric jazz guitar pioneer Charlie Christian. It's often performed as a guitar fanfare, because of its history from Charlie Christian. I've heard it played by many of my favorite guitarists, so I was pleased to do my own version.

When I told Bucky Pizzarelli I was thinking about doing this tune he just lit up! I knew he was a Charlie Christian fan just like me. He played a rousing solo and Russell was great as well, providing a cool yet uplifting spirit. I especially love the old time three-way improv we played toward the end.

By the way, the fact that Seven Come Eleven happens to be the 7th out of 11 songs is purely a coincidence.
