How to use Zoom to connect with StanleySubmitted by admin on Mon, 09/01/2014 - 03:03
For connecting Stanley to his fans and students, we use Zoom.
Zoom is a cloud-based video and audio conferencing system that works on a large variety of platforms, including Mac, PC, iPad, iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Google Chrome, and even telephones! Most sessions use video conferencing, so you will normally connect by computer or smart phone rather than a conventional telephone.
We chose Zoom because of its variety of platforms as well as its sound quality, reliability and scalability to very large groups. Zoom is similar to Skype in that there is a one-time download, but unlike Skype you do not need an account.
The way it works is, once you have been registered to join a session you will receive an email giving you instructions to join in from any platform. You will be given the URL and the password. If it is your first time using Zoom, you will be prompted to download it. Just follow the instructions and you be taken to the session. We recommend starting a few minutes early in case there are any issues that need to be resolved.
